We traveled to French Lick for a one-tank trip recently and had a blast at the Wilstem Ranch Pumpkin Patch and at the Big Splash Adventure Water Park and Hotel. French Lick is just 2.5 to 3 hours south of Indianapolis and makes for a great getaway when the family needs a change of pace. Their rates, packages, and amenities are seasonal, so it’s best to check on their website for the latest info.
Wilstem Ranch also has trails, horses, a petting zoo area, a zip line, wagon rides, cabin rentals, and a pumpkin patch. Stay here a night or two and trip over to the water park for the day!
Wilstem Ranch is a sister site of the hotel and water park. They offer package rates and since they’re so close to each other, it’s a nice way to add more fun to your vacation. We rode the wagon out to the pasture and enjoyed the zip line, pumpkins, and petting area.
Depending on the time of year that you travel, the scenery is gorgeous as the seasons change. Lots of hills, covered bridges, historic homes, farms, and small towns will keep you entertained as well.
The hotel at the Big Splash Adventure is targeted for families. Our room slept up to 6 and started at $239. This included 4 passes to the water park, breakfast for our party, and two days of water play. We added a fifth person for $21 and a pizza/token package for $40 and came away with a great experience. The bunk bed set up was pretty entertaining for the kids and we also enjoyed the small fridge and microwave in the room as well.
The water park is huge and full of energy! The kids loved all the slides, lazy river, pool, and jungle gym options. As a parent with little, little kids, I would say this was NOT a relaxing vacation, but it was super fun to see the kids having a ball. It’s also very loud in there due to the music, water drops, and running water, so anyone who is sensory sensitive may not find this appealing.
Our littles loved the swings in the baby pool area!
The arcade spot is the place to be! Our pizza package also came with $25 worth of game tokens. Count your tickets and cash them in for a grand prize. And snacks….of course there’s a snack bar! Sweet eats and treats of nachos, pizza, hot dogs and more! The kids loved it!
We’re super impressed with this stop and can’t wait to go back. We traveled with several other families and enjoyed the restaurant, lounge, and snack bar. There is also a nearby laser tag and mini golf stop that we did not hit on this trip. Some in our group stayed at the West Baden Historic Hotel and on our next visit we want to hit the nearby famous Casino. Restaurants, antique shops, a nearby cave, small towns…..Lots to do and we’ll be back!
