We visited the NCAA Hall of Champions on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in January of 2014. Having lived in Indy all my life, I’m embarrassed to say this was my FIRST trip in, but what a treat! The museum is a part of the White River State Parks.
Due to the holiday, our admission was free this day with a canned good donation, but usually adults are $5, children ages 6 to 18 are $3 and ages 5 and under are free. We parked in a lot nearby and the museum was just a short distance away. The grounds in the area are beautiful and in the warmer months, you can enjoy the downtown with access to the canal walk, bike rentals and other museums nearby.
This museum is a great tribute and celebration to sport and to student athletes. We appreciate the opportunity to come in to play, learn and explore!

Sitting alongside the canal, the building is gorgeous inside and out!
At the entry is a tribute to athletes of years past. Make sure to allow enough time to read the many historical notes on the wall. The museum staff are very helpful at answering questions and jumping in to tell you even more to the story.
This room holds many interactive stations offering highlights of each NCAA sport.
Touch screens take you to even more info on the sports, college info and history of the game!
Here we learned the history of basketball by a very helpful museum employee.
Our little ones enjoyed the movable exhibits. “Don’t touch” was NOT in our vocabulary. Touch and play all you want!
The second floor holds even more fun. We each participated in a vertical jump contest!
More touch and feel of footballs of years past.
Get a practice on your swimming start off the blocks!
Track runners were in the “set” position!
The open gym allows you to show off your ball-handling skills!
We really loved this museum! It does not take too long to tour and would be great in tandem with other museums at the Park, such as the Indiana State Museum, the Zoo and the Butterfly Gardens. Please put this on your must-do list…great for all ages!
