Located in Indianapolis near 91st and Michigan Road, this was our second visit to the Beef and Boards Children’s Theatre! On our first trip we saw “Dora the Explorer” in the spring of 2012 and on this venture we enjoyed “Cinderella”. This show runs October 20-November 17, 2012. Coming for 2013 is “Pinkalicious”, “The Sound of Music”, and “Winnie the Pooh”.
We ordered our tickets online and were seated in our assigned seats as after waiting in a short line at the door. Parking builds up and there will be a crowd, so arrive early. Show times are on Fridays and Saturdays at 10AM and 1PM, with doors opening 30 minutes prior to the show. The show starts promptly as scheduled and lasts roughly one hour. Call well in advance for your tickets, as they do sell out fast.
There are kids of all ages, boys and girls, present in the audience and I know even my son’s first grade class is taking a field trip there soon. Group rates are available for sizes of 20 or more. Ticket prices may change, but our tickets for two ordered over the phone, including the service fee were $30 total.
Wear your dress for the show! Lots of little girls had their Cinderella dresses, shoes, and tiaras on. At “Dora”, lots of little girls wore their Dora gear and brought their Dora dolls. I’d say whatever the theme of the show, feel free to come “dressed” for the party!
The stage is set and we couldn’t wait for the show to start. No video or photography is allowed during the performance, so this is just a preview of what to expect. The stage moves and the set changes as the scenes progress. It’s very interactive and the characters will peruse throughout the audience. There’s not a bad seat in the house!
Each ticket holder gets a juice box and rice krispies treat.
There’s also water and coffee for the “big” kids!
After the show, take some time to wait in line to meet the characters, grab a snapshot, and get an autograph or two. These Cinderellas enjoyed the encounter!
This setting is a fabulous place to take your crew. It’s fun to expose my kids to the arts and we’re super impressed at the talent on the stage. Make sure to get your tickets for an upcoming show…it’s worth it!
