Lemonade Day 2013 is great for young entrepreneurs in Indy!
Read on for more info!
-HOW TO PARTICIPATE-
- online through our web site,
- at most Greater Indianapolis Area libraries, including within the nine county region,
- through a youth-serving non-profit like the Boy Scouts or Big Brothers Big Sisters or
- at one of our registration events in March or April at places like The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis or the Indianapolis Zoo.
Step 2: Get your Lemonade Day backpack. You can get your backpacks when you sign up at any of the places mentioned above (libraries, YMCA, etc.). Inside your backpack, you will find two workbooks: the Entrepreneur’s Workbook for the child and the Caring Adult Guide for the adult who will work with the child to prepare for Lemonade Day. These workbooks contain 10+ lessons around starting, owning and operating your own lemonade business. Work through these lessons at your own pace, on your own time.
Step 3: Participate in one or more of our workshops and contests (optional). In March and April, we’ll offer several workshops and fun contests for which you can sign up. These are optional, not required but TONS OF FUN!! And, contest winners receive great prizes!! Check our Events page in early 2012 for more information.
Step 4: Check your email! The “Caring Adult” who helps you sign up for Lemonade Day will be asked to provide an email address. We will email him/her every two weeks (weekly as we get close to Lemonade Day) with tips and hints, reminders about upcoming events and any special offers from our partners and sponsors.
Step 5: Set up your lemonade stand on LEMONADE DAY: Saturday, May 18th, 2013! Once you’ve worked through the lessons in your Entrepreneur’s Workbook (and hopefully participated in one or more of our events), you’re ready to “open up shop.” You can set up your lemonade stand in your driveway, at one of the local parks with which we are partnering or at one of our sponsor locations (we’ll email you about these opportunities as they arise). You can also ask permission to set up your stand in front of another business in your community, but you must ask the business for permission…..you set your own hours on Lemonade Day and, most importantly, YOU KEEP THE MONEY YOU EARN! After all, it’s your business! We DO encourage you to save, spend and share your profits.
Step 6: Share your results with us! You will find a Business Results Form stapled inside your Entrepreneur’s Workbook (we will also email you a copy). Please look that over before Lemonade Day to be sure you’re keeping track of key stats. After Lemonade Day, fill out the form and send it in to us for a chance to win a GREAT PRIZE! We also want to hear your Lemonade Day stories and see your photos so don’t forget to email us with those!
